History

Just like HP, Apple and other well-known tech firms, Adaptasoft was literally started in a garage.

Founder Bob Huber, was working as Controller for a manufacturing company. One of his duties was processing payroll. Being a problem solver with a technology background, he figured there had to be a better, more automated way to get his work done. He soon set about developing an application in his spare time, and after using it in the office, realized the potential it could have if developed further.

In 1996 he made the leap to starting his own business (in his garage). He spent long hours programming and emerged in 1997 with FlexPay, offering it to businesses looking to efficiently process payrolls in-house.

Tim Troxel joined the company in 1997 as Bob's first employee. Together they set about developing a new product, CyberPay, for payroll service bureaus. It was released later that same year.

Since then, Adaptasoft has made continual updates and improvements to its products. Releases prompted by customer input and general product enhancements occur at least annually.

In October of 2000, the founder expressed interest in leaving the payroll software business. Tim worked out terms with Bob and, together with a couple other employees, purchased Adaptasoft and made a new commitment to improved customer service and expanded service offerings. Tim gradually bought out the other employees.

Some years later, it became clear to the Adaptasoft team that many businesses in the payroll industry needed consulting level services to build a stronger business and stay competitive in this ever-changing market. Company leadership set about to develop and hire in this expertise.

Since the ownership change and focus on industry needs, the number of payroll service bureaus using CyberPay has increased by more than 750%. And our team has grown to approximately 20 people, most of them working out of three offices in downtown Francesville, Indiana. We attribute this success to our dedication to providing our clients with the services, support and business solutions they desire. We are committed to developing, maintaining, and enhancing the best payroll software on the market.
